Elms provide our afterschool sports clubs in school and they have awarded Filip from Maple class a prize and certificate for his outstanding effort in Tennis club. Filip came 4th out nearly 400 children that Elms teach every week. Well done Filip!.
Nursery children are looking at the life cycle of butterflies. We are observing caterpillars growing in class. They are eating and soon they will build a cocoon around themselves. Then a few weeks later they will emerge as beautiful butterflies. Nursery children will then look after them for a few days until their wings are dry and they are strong enough to be released.
The Red Nose charity is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and Ms Burton from Cherry class is running a lego design project with the charity. Children and parents can design a picture or a lego model of what a school would be like in 2065. The deadline is 25th April 2025. They can take a picture of their design and send it to the school email admin@woodendprimaryschool.com.
Entering the competition means there is a chance of winning a cash prize, or one of 40 LEGO sets for our school, for more information on the competition and full T&Cs, head to comicrelief.com/lego
As a healthy school we encourage children to have a healthy snack at the end of the school day. Most children will have a meal when they get home but its only natural for children to want a small snack on the way home. Why not swap a sugar filled unhealthy donut or cake with a banana or an orange. A healthy snack bar instead of crisps will fill a child up for longer. Having a light snack also means children are much more likely to finish all their dinner.
As part of their PSHE unit, Year 4 children are organising a fundraiser for a school in South Africa, Hope Valley Farm School.
It will be a Talent show for KS2 pupils. Children from Year 3 to Year 6 will be performing their special talent, 2 children from each class will be nominated by their class to perform at the talent show.
The talent show will take place on the 27th March at 1:45pm.
Money will be raised by selling tickets to KS2 parents for £2. We hope you can support Year 4 charity event.
Lots of parents enjoyed making healthy food with mums and dads this week. Learning how to cut and prepare food safely is a great life skill for all.
Well done to Amelia and Noemi in Hazel class, achieving an amazing 100 Track Points in school for exceptionally excellent behaviour in school. This includes fantastic listening, contributing in class and general great behaviour. WELL DONE !
Every week the classes with the highest attendance for the previous week will receive a certificate that they proudly display in their classroom. This underpins the importance of coming to school everyday to the children and celebrates their class achievement.
