Happy New Year! It has been wonderful to see the children come into school with such big smiles on their faces, excited to be back at school. We are all looking forward to another busy term with many exciting learning opportunities for the children

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome our new staff to the Wood End Primary team: Ms Patel (Year 3 teacher), Miss Hassan (Teaching Assistant) and Mrs Paraleesan (Kitchen Assistant).

Year 4 Swimming

Year 4 Poplar class has started 10 weeks of swimming classes this week. Swimming lessons are part of the National Curriculum, the government state all children should aim to swim at least 25 metres before starting high school. Sycamore class will start from 27th March 2024.

Swimming builds endurance, muscle strength and confidence. It acts as an  all over body workout and could one day save your child’s life.

If in the future your child wants to try different sports they may not be able to without some basic swimming for example kayaking, canoeing, surfing or scuba diving.

Children need to be in School at 8.30am sharp on wednesdays to walk to the swimming baths with their swimming costumes. Please set your alarm clocks

Collection of children

In the interest of your child's safety, we kindly request that you inform the school office if there is any change to the person who is to pick-up your child. Your child's well-being is our top priority and if the Teacher or Teaching Assistant does not recognise the person collecting your child they will need to check with the school office that they are approved to do so. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe school environment.

School Council Fundraising Event A School Council event: children are invited to wear their favourite sports clothes to school on Friday 19th January and bring in £1 to raise funds. The School Council are hoping to raise enough money to buy much needed new playground equipment for the children to enjoy in school.

School places

If you have completed your application for a school place for Reception you will hear back from the Ealing Council on the 17th April 2024.
High school places will be confirmed via email on the 1st March 2024.

Activity Passports

Passports are now available to children in Year 3 to Year 6. The passport is a place where children can record all the activities they do outside of a normal school day. This could be a club after school or external activity like Kumon, scouts or a music club. You can also include family trips to zoo's parks and museums. At the end of the year we will look at all the things you have attended and we will have an Award ceremony to celebrate all thier achievements.

Sometimes we could all do with someone to talk to.  If you would like to meet Helen for a confidential and non-judgemental chat about you, your child, or any other worries, she is available on Wednesdays and Thursdays 9-10am. You can call/text Helen on 07429 654584 or email her at helen@schoolscounsellingpartnership.co.uk
