Banner made in Birmingham 1950s celebrating Woodcraft and George Holyoake a founding father of the co-operative movement and author of 'The History of the Rochdale Pioneers'.
The banner was hand painted in Birmingham by Woodcraft Members in the 1950s (alongside George Holyoake) and has been a part of the Birmingham and Midlands Institute Collection for many years.
Robert Owen believed that character is formed by environment and that communal living and shared labour led to a better society, values shared and adopted by Woodcraft Folk.
Carved at Camp 100 during bushcraft workshop and left at the Trailblazer tent. Appears to have the name 'Lea' written with felt tips at the Trailblazer tent. It's a small mammal - a mouse, muskrat or possibly a beaver?
