Hello everyone! I am glad you are able to come visit the Woodbury Choral Department website.
My name is Sarah Johnston, and I am very excited to be the Choral Music Teacher at Woodbury Junior- Senior High School.
Since I was in 2nd grade I have been in a choir. Before that, I would sing and dance with my Dad as he played music on his piano and guitar at home. I honestly have no idea what life is without music. It is a driving force in my life. It brings me peace, expresses my joy, and gives everything meaning. My hope as the Choral Music Teacher is to inspire all of my students to share my love for music, and join me in the life long journey of learning and discovering all that music encompasses.

As a music teacher, I think it is important to note that I am both a Musician and a Teacher. Without studying and improving both professions, I would not be successful in my career as a music teacher. (Without the experience as a performer, how can I teach others to perform!?) Therefore, below I will give you a brief glimpse at my background in teaching and performing.
Education:
I graduated cum laude from Rowan University a Bachelor of Music in Music Education: Vocal and a Bachelor of Arts in Education: Subject Matter Teaching.
Teaching:
I also want to note that in High School I was the Color Guard Captain for 3 years, Assistant Drum Major for 1 year, as well as 1st Chair 3rd Clarinet. After these, I had a variety of leadership positions in high school and in college, however without these leadership positions in band, I would never have known I could lead a group of people and I would have never even considered a career in teaching.
