Class Overview
I sincerely love creating artwork with your children. I believe children need to feel safe and loved to learn. I teach because I genuinely enjoy providing students with a creative lens in which to view the world. I am observant of and adaptable to the unique qualities and needs my students possess. I am interested in having my students feel welcomed, valued, and accepted in my classroom. Essentially, I want to enable my students to fully maximize their talents, imagination, artistic and analytical skills, and character. I instill my own love of and willingness to learn to my students. I am reflective on what has been successful in my classroom and consistently seek to better my strategies. I encourage my students to learn from their defeats. Furthermore, I communicate and exemplify knowledge is not fixed – rather, knowledge is learned and everyone possesses this ability. I believe that once students feel this way, they will want to learn in my classroom, as opposed to have to.
I am so looking forward to the 2025-2026 school year with your family! To contact me or show me your artwork, please e-mail mjeffery@wood-ridgeschools.org.
About Me
Hi and welcome to art with Mrs. Jeffery! I have eagerly looked forward to work everyday and have loved working with the faculty, staff, students, and families of Wood-Ridge for the past 8 years. As an honors graduate of Ramapo College of New Jersey, I am competent but not limited to teaching drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, sculpture, graphic design, crafts and art history using a breadth of mediums and resources. While at Ramapo, I obtained my K-12 teacher education certification and graduated with BA in fine arts with concentrations in sculpture, drawing and painting and a minor in psychology.
In my free-time, I love spending time with my husband Matt and our sons, Theodore and Oliver. My favorite artists are Gustav Klimt, Raphael, and Mary Cassatt. The Italian Renaissance is my favorite time period in art. My favorite art supplies to work with are oil paints and paint. We are going to have a wonderful year!
