Hello and welcome to the school year 2025-2026! I am Ms. Kim, and I have the most FUN and rewarding job at our school.😉 I teach Multilingual Learners (ML) Pre-K through 2nd Grade, also commonly known as English as a Second Language (ESL). I am certified to teach English as a Second Language as well as English Language Arts, and I've had the privilege of working with students of all ages. I have a BIG heart for our little friends, and I am all about investing in our next generation with passion, compassion, and LOVE. Adapting to a new language and culture may not be easy, but it can be an enjoyable one. As a multilingual learner myself, I am always grateful for the invaluable gifts that I get to cherish in my life. My hope is for my students and their families to also experience the many blessings that their journey will bring! ✨
Our ML/ESL program is designed to provide a culturally responsive and inclusive environment in which all of our Multilingual Learners (MLs) are encouraged to learn and grow in their English proficiency as well as in their identity as gifted polyglots. Students who are eligible for the program are screened through home language surveys, records review, and placement testing (WIDA Screener or MODEL). Those with a score of 4.5 or higher on ACCESS/MODEL or A.3+ on Alternate ACCESS along with multiple indicators (e.g. teacher's recommendation, classroom performance, etc.) may be eligible for exit. More details will be provided throughout the year! 🌻
