Hello and welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! 🙋🏻‍♀️✨ My name is Ms. Kim, and I am thrilled to be your child’s Multilingual Learner (ML) teacher—a program also widely known as English as a Second Language (ESL).

I am certified to teach English as a Second Language as well as English Language Arts to all school-aged children (Grades P–12). I have experience teaching across all of these grade levels, and I am so happy to be at Doyle School for my fourth year! As a multilingual learner myself, I am deeply grateful for my own bilingual background, and I love getting to know families from different cultures while helping our students grow into confident multilingual learners!

How Our Program Works

• Initial Screening: Based on your Home Language Survey, your child may take a screening test to determine if they qualify for English support services.

• Daily Support: Depending on their test results, your child will receive support either through push-in services (assistance inside their homeroom classroom) or pull-out services (small-group instruction in my classroom for one period a day).

• Spring Assessment (WIDA ACCESS): Each spring (around February or March), students take the annual WIDA ACCESS test to measure their English growth. Results are shared over the summer and determine program placement for the following school year. Students take this test each year until they achieve an overall exit score of at least 4.5.

We will have the opportunity to talk more in person at Back to School Night and during parent-teacher conferences. Building a strong connection between home and school is so important, and I am always here to support both you and your child throughout their learning journey. 💝
