Literacy

Dear Parents,

The challenge is to have your child/children continue working on their literacy skills. It is imperative for them to practice what they have been working on in school. With that being said, your job will be to encourage your child/children to read at least one book a day. Try to allow them to read the book but if they should select a book that is not at their reading level you can read it to them. Be sure to read clear and use your finger as you read each word so they are able to follow along. With you reading to your child you will be demonstrating proper rate and fluency, meaning you will be reading at an easy flowing pace.

Each day there will be a new post, with different activities to be done with the book being read. Some may be questions they need to answer and others may be a different comprehension activity.

You will email danielle@wolastoqed.com the completed activities. You can take snap shots and send those if it’s easier.

In the email you should also include the Book Title and author, listing how many pages read, in addition to the completed activities. Danielle will keep an up-to-date record of all activities and books read. For each book read and completed activity your child’s name will go into a draw for a prize at the end of two weeks. Prizes to be determined at a later date.
