Wednesday March 10th Getting Ready for Remote Learning!

Hello Everyone!

Today we would like you to get your learning space all ready to go. We have attached a video of Ms. Gail reviewing S.P.A.C.E. (See below.) You have a S.P.A.C.E. poster in your remote learning brown bag. We have also attached a copy below. Grab that and post it in your learning space if you are able to. You have a Learning Sign to fold and tape and place in your learning area, please ask for help to put that together if you would like to use it. Also in your bag are your ZOOM meeting signs on clothespins. Gather those up as well as the ZOOM meeting poster and find a spot in your S.P.A.C.E. where you will be able to get them and use them when needed. No worries if you are unable to find them.

We will be zooming a bunch each remote learning day, beginning tomorrow morning, Thursday, March 11th at 9:30am!

FYI, Your ZOOM links will be posted on your student seesaw page in the activities spot! Simply click on the blue zoom link, do not click add a response, to attend each Zoom Meeting.

Get your home school folder with all of the items in it, your tech folder, and a charged Chromebook organized and ready. Placing your brown bag, or the things in the bag, in your learning space ready to go, is a really good idea. Collecting and organizing some of your favorite books, a notebook, pencils, crayons, markers, scissors, and a glue stick from around your house is another good idea. If you do not have all of these items, no worries, you really only need a pencil, some paper, and your Chromebook!

WEDNESDAY IS STWEAM DAY!!!!! BIOMES!!!

If you have the chance tomorrow, seeing as it is going to be another beautiful day, get outside!!! If possible take some pics of biomes around your house. If you are able to venture out further with an adult take some pics of biomes in your neighborhood. If you are unable to take photos, or if you would rather, draw a detailed realistic picture of the biome you are observing and send a pic of that along. Ask for help emailing any pics you collect to us: MB: mclason@wocsd.org or Mrs. Langelier: mlangelier@wocsd.org , post them onto Seesaw, or add them to the Google album below! When the album is full we will add it to the STWEAM page on this website.

FYI a Biome is a collection of plants and animals that exist in a common environment. We have been studying biomes from all over the world. Some of the biomes which may exist at your home or near your home are: meadow, woodland, swamp, river, forest, field, stream, pond, lake, estuary, marsh, beach, ocean, and mountain.

Schedule and Plans for Remote Learning Days When a Student Needs to Quarantine and we are in Hybrid A Model: in person teaching:

As far as school work goes while you are quarantining and remote and we are in person at WES, here is the plan:

Work on a few pages of the math packet which is in your brown take home bag each day. This packet will act as a review. When you finish a few pages of that packet head to Happy Numbers, Sumdog and Greg Tang. (You have these bookmarked on your devices and your sign in info. for Sumdog and Happy Numbers is in your tech folder.)

Head to the Daily 5 tab on this website and do Read to Self with Ms. Gail. You should do the 30 minutes video with her. Use the books which you brought home, or any others you may have at home. You may also do two more Daily 5 choices. You have a Daily 5 check in paper in your brown bag, on which to list your choices each day. Or you may just record them in your notebook. Everyday should include Read to Self-R- with Ms Gail, and two other choices: Work on Writing-W, Word Work-WW, or Listen to Someone Read-L. For word work you should have a list of words in your brown bags. Just in case a word list is attached below. You may use the laminated paper in your take home folder which is two sided and has 12 circles on each side with ideas for practicing words. (We are starting these on Wednesdays beginning the 2nd week in January, so you may need some help with these ideas. Ask someone at home to help you out if you need it.) For Listen to Someone Read you may go to EPIC or Storyline, both are bookmarked on your Chromebook. For Work on Writing you should head back to the Daily 5 tab and follow along with Ms. Gail and Work on Writing at Home: the 20 mins. video. You should use the spiral bound notebook in your brown bag for any writing or word work.

For Writing Workshop please head to the website again and click on the Writing tab. There is a link to Writing Workshop which is an activity you have been assigned on Seesaw. You have done this before in class, so you should be all set. You will need to scroll down to find it. You will need a timer. You should use your spiral bound notebook which is in your brown bag for any writing you complete during writing workshop time.

Just like in school you should complete all of the work above as independently as possible. Math - 50 minutes. Daily 5 - 60 minutes Writing - 40 mins. CORE: 30 - mins.

YOU rock!!! YOU Got This!!!

If you have any questions email us or better yet, message us on Seesaw! Sometimes we do not have the time to check emails during the day, but a Seesaw message will be easier for us to answer!

We Miss You! Do Your Best!

LOVE,

MB and Mrs. Langelier

The Daily Math packet is inside the folder. The packet is set up by days (20 days). Each day has 5 problems that need to be completed. Some of these problems are review and some are skills that we will learn in the future. If you are unsure of a problem just skip it or ask an adult to read the question to you. Please do 1 day each of the days you are home. So M/Th, please do day 1 ( 5 problems), and on T/F, please do day 2 (5 problems).

Also, in your folder is a sheet titled 5 math facts about me. Please work on this the two days you are remote. The directions are on the sheet. Please make sure to put your name in the center of the square and draw a self portrait. You will add 5 math facts around the square and draw a little illustration to go with the fact. Please make sure to include 5 different names. We can't wait to see all the math that is around us!

WRITING

Writing Monday or Thursday

Find your copy of the book "Be You!" in your blue folder. Then Please click the link below to listen again to the author and illustrator Peter Reynolds read his book : "Be You!"

Next please find the large piece of paper with a picture of the book cover on it. Take some time to think what makes you...YOU! What are a few things we may not know about you, or things which make you ...YOU!!! Then take some time to draw a few pictures of the things which you have thought of. Write about those things which make you...YOU!!!! Do not worry about having things spelled exactly, write down the letters for the sounds you hear. WORK HARD!!! Try your best and have fun telling and showing us about the one and only YOU!!!!! Please bring your book and finished paper back to school in your blue folder to share with us.

Writing Tuesday or Friday

Listen to the book by clicking the button below. Take some time to think about something you did over the Summer. With help from an adult print off a few pictures from your vacation, or just draw 5 things you remember from your vacation!! Then WRITE about your vacation by writing a caption, or few words describing the pictures, under each picture from your vacation!

If you have the time try out some of the ideas from the author and illustrator of "Pictures From Our Vacation"! What new recipe would you create, or have you created? Make an accordian book with 5 pictures from your vacation or use paper clips to make a hanging display, or draw a map of a place you where at on vacation, or a map of the trip you made!

Daily 5 CAFE

During Daily 5 time we would like you to Read to Yourself with Gail Boushey, just like we practiced at school. Head to the Daily 5 CAFE tab on this site's menu. Click on the 1 minute Building Read to Self Stamina video, and Read to Self behaviors review to begin. Use the book " Be You!" from your blue folder and any other books you may have at home. We will be setting you up with an EPIC log in soon and assigning you digital books to work with. Lastly, if you do not have any books available at home, no worries, head to Storyline online to listen to some books. See the link to your left.

Once you have completed the 1 minute video with Gail, please move onto the 3 minute building Read to Self video and review of the 3 ways to read to a book.

When you are ready, move to the 5 minute video and Check for Understanding strategy with Gail. If you feel comfortable, and you are ready, try out the 10 minute building Read to Self stamina video and recording your stamina, but please stop there. When you are at school with us this week, we will be telling you about the Independent Stamina record keeping chart, and we will give you one to take home, but feel free to record how many minutes you complete during Read to Self on a piece of paper!

During both of your remote learning days, please complete the 1 min, 3 mins, 5 mins, and 10 mins (If you are ready) videos with Gail for Read to Self. Do not rush it!!! Work hard, be nice (especially to yourself and who ever is helping you with remote learning) and have fun.

Wednesday (Everyone is Remote) STWEAM Day:

No ZOOM meeting today, Wednesday September 16th!

Good news the Chromebooks have arrived so hopefully next week we will ZOOM to start off our Wednesday remote learning time together!!!!

Hello Everyone!

Happy Wednesday #Work at Home Day # Everyone is Remote on Wednesday # It must be STWEAM Day! Today for STWEAM we would like you to begin discovering Bugs, especially Insects! Please head outside and search for some insects or bugs, or maybe you will be able to find some inside, hahaha, it is getting chilly outside. If you find one, please take a photo with an adult's assistance, and email the pics to us. The pics will be added to the "Bugs Brought to You By: Multi 1-2 Students!" photo album. If you are unable to find an insect or bug, no worries, use the photos in the album for the activity.

Next find the two Insect Observation papers in your blue folders. Begin with pencil and draw the most detailed drawing of the insect or bug you are focusing on. Add in colorful realistic details to your drawing, which means use colors which match the insect in the photo, or what you observed in nature. Then add in some writing. Tell us what you observed about the insect or bug, or where you found it, or anything you found interesting about it! Please complete two insect or bug observations. If you would like to do more, please find the Insect Observation Paper below.

Insect Observation Paper:

Insect Observations

Here is the Insect Observation Paper doc in case you would like to do more than two observations!
