Juniors (club) general info
Junior Olympic (club) programs are the most common way to continue to play volleyball through the winter and spring. Most varsity players have previously played in juniors. Some of these teams will begin their tryouts as early as Oct 14th, so planning for the off-season needs to happen very soon.
Middle school aged players are also eligible to participate in junior league volleyball –
To give a quick synopsis, junior league volleyball is equivalent to an AAU basketball type of league. Teams are created based on age rather than grade. The date that determines age is September 1st.
All club teams play in at least 5 (most play more)-all day tournaments which are all held on Sundays. Tournaments are in various locations throughout New England. These leagues also have a one day a week practice on Sundays (Saturday for some). The season runs from December through May.
Most programs also offer Power team options. Power teams are for the more advanced and committed players at each age level. Power teams will have at least 1 week day practice in addition to the Sunday/Saturday practice. Power teams typically play in 3 or more additional tournaments per season beyond a club level team.
All programs have a tryout fee which must be paid advance and will not be refunded if a player is cut or if the player decides to play for a different program.
All players need to be pre-registered through USA Volleyball
USAV Registration https://webpoint.usavolleyball.org/
Each program will also have its own registration which needs to be completed before tryouts. All registration links can be found the each individual club’s website.
