A Diocese of Buffalo STREAM project for all schools
As we reflect on the last 175 years of the Diocese of Buffalo we have an opportunity to honor some of our anchor churches.
Many churches in our diocese were built by immigrant communities that brought so much diversity and vibrancy to WNY. This project aims to highlight some of our closed churches, where they came from, who built them, how are they being used today.
We are asking our schools to choose an anchor Church (an anchor church is a church that is no longer open but anchored the community when it was initially built), possibly geographically close to them to research.
Geographical, historical, architectural, community, art, religious orders, so many areas to research.
Each grade in your school focuses on an aspect of the church and/or the community to research through STREAM principles
For the final submission, Schools will be asked to make a 4-5 minute video showcasing the projects they have used to research the background and history in the community of their "Anchor Church."
Go to the STREAM Projects tab for ideas and resources.
Submission date for all Anchor Church Project entries is Friday 13th January 2023.
Superintendents Cup points will be awarded to each school that enters.
