Children are born with musical aptitude. The Music program at Westminster Center School offers each student the opportunity to develop, nurture and expand upon his or her own musical ability.

MUSIC ROOM CREDO:

All people are endowed with musical ability.

There are many ways to be musical.

Everyone is musical in a different way.

Therefore, the primary goals of the Music Program are:

To help the individual discover his or her musical capability

To provide a wide variety of musical exposure and opportunity;

To validate each person's particular musical inclination by keeping paths to learning open;

To create an atmosphere of mutual trust;

To offer support and guidance.

Music is a natural “glue” for any community. Singing, playing instruments, dancing and exploring music together strengthens our connections to each other. Among the members of our community there is mutual respect and an understanding that all ways to be involved with music are valid. Children have the sense that being musical is part of being human.
