Meet Our WMHS Hall of Excellence Inductees

The West Milford Township High School is pleased to announce the 2019 Hall of Excellence inductees.


Michael J. Schunke, Class of 1987

Michael is an internationally recognized contemporary glass artist, educator, and designer. His work has received numerous awards and is featured in museums in the United States and around the world. Michael has dedicated his life to the practice of glassblowing.

Abha Khanna, J.D., Class of 1997

Abha graduated summa cum laude from Yale University with a BA in Psychology and is a graduate of Yale Law School. Abha is a partner in the prestigious law firm Perkins Coie in Seattle, Washington. She has represented clients in state and federal courts, including the US Supreme Court.

Jennifer Smolinski, Class of 2000

Jennifer graduated from Bloomsbury University in 2004 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Marketing & Administration. After beginning her career in advertising, Jennifer joined the navy reserves and volunteered to serve three tours in Afghanistan. She continues to serve the United States government.

Monika Heinig, PhD, Class of 2005

Monika received her PhD in mathematics from Stevens Institute of Technology. She double-majored at Seton Hall in mathematics and secondary education. Monika has taught at both Seton Hall and Stevens Institute. She has worked in the private sector in medical research, analytics and data science. Dr. Monika Heinig is currently the Director of Data Science and Analytics at Clyde in the Greater New York City area.

Monika visited WMHS and went to see her painting of Robert Salmon's View of Venice. She painted it on the high school wall in Advanced Art class in 2005. She also visited with her former teachers.

Mrs. Hammell, Grade 1

Lyndsay Wright, Class of 2008

Lyndsay is currently a marketing manager with Berkeley College. She developed Multiple Sclerosis in her senior year of high school, and has since become an advocate for those with the disease as well as an impressive fundraiser for MS. Lyndsay has spent the past 10 years joining every physically-demanding fundraiser for MS while always pushing her limits. We love listening to Lyndsay speak.

Maureen Calantropio, retired math teacher, 2005

Maureen is a graduate from Paterson State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. She received her Master’s in Education with a concentration in mathematics from William Paterson University. After a success teaching career of 35 years, Maureen retired and continued to develop best practices in teaching through professional workshops and student teacher supervision. Welcome back to the district, Mrs. Calantropio!
