HEALTH-WELLNESS: Thanks to generous private donors, WMS sponsors a full range of after-school athletics including an Annual Cross Country Invitational for Middle School Athletes from Around Hawai'i Island.
INTEGRATED PLACE-BASED EXPERIENCES: 7th Grade's Year-Long 'Uala Project integrates core Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies curriculum with 'Ike Hawai'i and Garden experiences. Students explore traditional Hawaiian pre-contact cultivation practices and contemporary environmental and agricultural issues to support rigorous, relevant, engaging lessons.
CULTURAL DIVERSITY & KULEANA: 'Ike Hawai'i cultural learning is incorporated into the school day and includes coming together every Monday morning for Piko to set intentions for the week ahead, plus practicing traditional protocols, and learning about the people, stories and practices of this special place we call home.
