The Global Migration Resilience Organization is a global program that identifies regions at high risk of climate migration and predicts the pathways migrants will take. With our database and mapping system, we identify areas where climate-related displacement may increase in the coming decades. With this information, we continuously update a network of cities and towns that meet our migration preparedness standards. Communities in our network meet the needed infrastructure, resources, and capacity to welcome and support incoming populations.
The Global Migration Resilience Organization works to predict climate-driven migration before it occurs, enabling places around the globe to prepare for displacement, along with welcoming new people into their communities. We do our best to support the safe and sustainable resettlement of affected groups.
Further, we aim to bring awareness to the need for preparation and resilience on a global scale. Addressing our future requires teamwork among countries, organizations, governments, and citizens. Our organization supports voluntary qualifying cities by helping get access to funding for the strengthening of local infrastructure and ensuring communities are better equipped to respond to future challenges.
Climate disasters can happen without warning, forcing many people to leave their homes suddenly, many with nowhere else to go. This sudden migration can overwhelm cities, citizens, and governments, especially if there isn’t enough housing infrastructure to accommodate a population spike. With our predictions and network, we can help ease the transition.
