Registration for the ADOS 2 Two Day Clinical Training in Polson MT on June 11 & 12. 2019. Sessions are from 9 am to 5 pm daily. You will be required to sign in and out each day and must attend the sessions in their entirety. Those registering will be required to have and bring an ADOS-2 Manual ( WPS Product #W-605M) it is required..

Maximizing Tier 1 Instruction

Apply the principles of RTI to improve core/Tier I instruction. This one day seminar presents details schools need for improving everyday instruction to dramatically increase academic outcomes, including performance on state assessments. Participants will learn how to establish a school-wide plan for systematic vocabulary instruction, how to maximize student engagement using the features of effective instruction, and practical ideas for identifying and meeting student individual needs through differentiation. Leave with practical tools that will assist teachers as they implement these strategies in the classroom.

Short Constructive Response (gr 3-8) Raising Student Achievement

Research has shown that teaching structured methods for students to effectively write a short constructed response, with a focus on compare and contrast, summarization, and citing text evidence, is a "best bet" for raising student achievement. This engaging andinteractive session will focus on the essential tools that students need in order to write an effective short constructed response across all content areas. Specific strategies for teaching sentence structure, paragraph structure, and citing text evidence will be addressed, as well as how to take students to the next level by analyzing and interpreting the text evidence in a way that draws important conclusions. Teachers will walk away with sure-fire methods for teaching short-constructed response to their students, as well as scoring methods that are aligned to the Smarter Balanced assessment.

DATA Management & TECH Integration

Methods for collections, analysis and collaboration of data . Session s intended for those who already have a basic understanding of online form creation and some basic skills at working with spreadsheets. In this session we will be expanding on topics such as form automation for email notifications and document creation using Add-on tools. We will also discuss methods for data graphing, interpretation and ultimate end user interfaces, such as privately shared web portals for team member access. Course is limited each day to 12 participants.

Strategies for Educating the Traumatized, Stressed out Kiddos in Your Classroom

This session will give educators a deeper understanding of how traumatic events and toxic stress can impact brain, development, and education. We will also go in depth as to what research based, brain based strategies work for educating this student.

  • *Define trauma and toxic stress
  • *Define emotional regulation and identify why kids can’t regulate on their own
  • *Understand how trauma impacts brain development
  • *Learn sequential strategies for healing that trauma and thus impact brain development
  • *Practice strategies that educators can use as soon as they leave this session

General Education Teachers…What you need to know about Special Education

This workshop is designed for general education teachers and focuses upon the core components of special education and the teacher’s role in all parts of the special education process. We will be discussing the history and laws behind special education, requirements in the pre-referral, referral, evaluation, and IEP processes. The purpose of this workshop is to empower general education teachers when it comes to working with students eligible for special education in their classrooms as well as be an active participant in the evaluation process. Discussion will also address accommodations, modifications, and interventions; the general education teacher as the curriculum expert; and how the general education teacher and the student are at the core of every special education program. The more a general education teachers knows for both general and special education—the better the overall services will be for ALL students.

Learning Progressions and Number Sense- Developing Numeracy in the Primary Grades

How can we develop and support numeracy in the primary grades? In this session, participants will look closely at the progressions of addition and subtraction and how we can support students as they explore these concepts. We will use Cathy Fosnot’s Learning Landscapes to identify the Big Ideas, Models and Strategies that will develop as students become more numerate. Participants will walk away understanding how to locate and celebrate where in the Learning Landscape a student is and how to challenge that student as they move on their journey through addition and subtraction

Restorative Justice Principles & Practices

This workshop will provide an introduction to Restorative Justice principles and practices in the school context. Educators interested in using restorative practices with their students will gain foundational knowledge and skills necessary to build and maintain relationships, repair harm and transform conflict, and to create a just and equitable learning environment. The training is experiential and provides skills practice with affective statements, impromptu dialogue, and the use of circles for community building, problem solving, and resolving conflicts, which are essential elements in the restorative practice continuum.
