More information:

Sra. Carolina Calderón Kakos is a native Spanish speaker. Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, she has spent over 39 years in the USA, all of them living in Center City, Philadelphia.

Sra. Kakos began learning languages at a very young age, while attending a Catholic French School in Caracas, until graduation from high school.

Her first professional degree is in Architecture. Later on, she obtained a Masters Degree in Architecture and a Certificate in Urban Design from the University of Pennsylvania. After quite a few years of practicing architecture along with her husband, Sra. Kakos decided to pursued her dream of teaching Spanish in the USA.

She came to Waldron Mercy Academy in 2008 as a substitute teacher for both French and Spanish. A year later, she began teaching part-time Spanish to 6th, 7th and 8th grades. Now as a full time faculty, she teaches those same grades, along with 4th Grade.

In addition, Sra. Kakos has been part of the Waldron family playing a different role. Her son Frank, graduated from the Waldron class of 2012.

As a parent of alumn, educator, and a mother herself, she treasures the time that she spends with the students, and hopes to convey her love of languages to the Waldron community.
