Thinking about signing your child up for Summer Youth Theatre? That’s exciting! Here are a few things you need to know about the program.
Summer Youth Theatre (SYT) is a big commitment. We rehearse mornings all of June and July. Our attendance policy does not allow participants to miss more than 4 rehearsals total, and after July 4th, participants can only miss one practice. Additionally, families should be available to donate two hours of volunteer time for things like costumes or taking tickets. Check out this year’s calendar to make sure it works for your family.
We cap participation at 50 individuals. Once in the program, no one will get cut due to ability. However, when registering we can only accept 50 kids. Registration will be open for 24 hours. Some years, we have had enough spaces, and some years, we have had to turn away participants. Priority goes to past participants and siblings. From there, remaining spots are drawn out of a hat. It can be helpful for new participants to have an expectation that they might not get in.
Our program is designed to nurture confident, empathetic, and collaborative actors. We prioritize personal growth, teamwork, and creativity over individual recognition. This is not a program for those solely seeking leading roles or the spotlight, but rather for those who wish to build self-confidence, form meaningful friendships, and develop their craft in a supportive and enjoyable environment.

Have your payment (credit card) ready
Anticipate spending 10-15 minutes on registration and the survey questionnaire that covers things like t-shirt sizes, dates you'll be gone, allergies, physical or mental health concerns, emergency contact information, etc.
