Respect your audience: Get to the point, avoid needless jargon, focus on informing them.
Capture their attention: Begin with something interesting, and keep your communication engaging throughout
Connect the unfamiliar with the familiar: Show connections between unfamiliar concepts and things your audience is already familiar with (use metaphors, analogies, etc.)
