Whitmer High School

Alumni Honor Wall

Honor Wall Mission Statement:

We aim to honor all Whitmer High School graduate alumni that have served in the military by awarding them a plaque in the Honor Wall which is located in the Senior Lobby at Whitmer High School in Toledo,OH. We are currently hosting over 300 honorees, 130 of which are already up on the wall. Washington Local Schools is extremely aware that many have walked these halls that have served our country with honor and valor. We aim to send a small token of our appreciation to them via this project to them.

Origin: Whitmer social studies teacher, Joshua Adams, created this project in 2010 as a way to honor Whitmer graduates for their service to our country. In its origin it was just a database where names were presented during the National Anthem at the home football games. It was always a dream of his to have a physical memorial located in the school that would be around for the entirety of the schools existence. It was then he met a Whitmer graduate from the Class of '66, Janet Gillespie Pratt, that vowed to help raise funds for the wall and also work as a Graduation Gift the Class of '66 would be able to give to Whitmer. $4000 was initially raised for the creation of the wall.

Raising funds will be an ongoing process in which help will be needed from all, it is IMPORTANT to note that we do not ask that honorees to pay any money to be enshrined on the Honor Wall.
