8th Grade Physical Education

Classroom Days:  Monday, Wednesday and Full Day Fridays 

Required Materials:  Westchester Lutheran PE uniform.  A positive attitude!

Course Description:  This class is designed to enhance/refine motor skill development, increase athleticism and strengthen the overall physical fitness of our students.  

Grading:

Participation:  50%

PE Clothes:  50%

*Email notification from a parent or guardian is required for an excused absence from PE class. 

8th Grade Health

Classroom Days:  Tuesday and Thursday

Required Materials:  Glencoe Teen Health Textbook (2021).  Food Journal, Quick Write journal (composition or spiral notebooks are fine)

Course Description:  This course is designed to reinforce topics and ideas learned in 7th grade with a more in depth and expansive approach.  Students will revisit core ideas introduced in the Glencoe Teen Health Course 2 textbook and examine new areas that have an effect on teen health.  A special emphasis will be placed on interpersonal relationships and healthy/responsible social media usage.  One of the primary tasks in this class is a food journal that must be updated a minimum of 4 days per week.  *Extra credit will be awarded (at end of each quarter) to students who update their food journals daily.
