8th Grade with Mrs. Romeo
LBMS 8th graders will be participating in a FANTASTIC, informative, and fun-filled visit to WHS on Friday, September, 20th. Students will be bused to the high school at around 11am, watch a presentation, participate in a student-led Q&A session. Then, they will receive a building tour, a pizza lunch provided by Mr. Shaw, and then they will get to participate in the WHS fall pep rally!
In a couple of weeks, I will be starting our social-emotional learning curriculum, which will take place during push-in lessons in students' team-based classrooms throughout this school year. We are using an evidence-based curriculum called Erika's Lighthouse. This curriculum will expand their knowledge on mental health awareness and self-care that we began last year in Total Wellness.
Additionally, we will be utilizing Naviance for ongoing career exploration using interactive and engaging activities and assessments.
7th Grade with Ms. Pellerite
For the next three weeks, I will be conducting Minute Meetings with every 7th grade student. This activity allows me to meet every one of my students face to face and better get to know them before the year fully takes off.
I have also started my weekly push-in lessons Total Wellness. We are using an evidenced-based curriculum called Choose Love. The curriculum focuses on 4 significant pillars of social-emotional learning & development: Courage, Gratitude, Forgiveness and Compassion in Action.
Additionally, we will be introducing our software, Naviance to assess Learning Styles, Career Exploration and Personality Strengths using assessments and engaging activities throughout the year.
