Makerspaces, sometimes also referred to as hackerspaces, hackspaces, and fablabs are creative, DIY spaces where people can gather to create, invent, and learn. For elementary students this would be a safe place to make a mess and create. These subject-integrated projects would meet and sometimes exceed Indiana State Standards for grades K-3.
Our goal is to create a place where learning meets creativity. Some of the possibilities might include:
- Cardboard construction
- Prototyping
- Woodworking
- Electronics
- Soil and planting
- Hydroponic gardening
- Small constructions
- Pendulum painting
- Solar power
- PVC creations
- Painting
- Popsicle stick crafts
- Solid craft structures
- Using hand tools
- Robotics
- Digital fabrication
- Bicycles and kinetic machines
- Textiles and sewing
- Candle making
- Tie dying
- Water rockets
- Deconstruction
- Furniture building
- Sticky projects
- Slimy projects
- Experimenting with solids, liquids and gases
- Silk screening
- Bridge building
