Welcome to 8th Grade Science

Hi Students & Families,

I am Mrs. Scarisbrick.  Welcome to Science 8.  I am passionate about learning and discovering new ways of looking at the world.  I can't wait to embark upon our science adventure this year.  You will routinely participate in activities and STEM labs.  The class emphasizes a hands-on approach to science with the goal that students will learn science through doing science.  Chemistry  and the physics of  our world will be explored in 8th grade science. I look forward to building a relationship with you and your family.  Come to class curious and full of questions.  Here's to the journey!

Hi Students and Families,

I am Ms. Regan. I am co-teaching with Ms. Scarisbrick this year! I am passionate about encouraging curiosity and learning new things. I especially love science because it teaches new ways to explore the world around us. I am very excited to be in this class and on this science journey with all of you. In 8th grade students will learn about physics and chemistry. Students will participate in labs frequently as part of a hands-on approach to learning science. I look forward to getting to know you and your family. Here is to a great year!

Best,

Ms. Regan

Your Science INB (Interactive Notebook)

Your Science INB (Interactive Notebook) will be used daily.  Please bring images, stickers, etc. to decorate your INB with.  Here are mine I decorate for our class this year.  You will be asked to describe 3 items on your Science INB and share this with your class.  I have many magazines and stickers to share with you if you prefer.

Assignments

Students will copy all assignments for the week into their planners at the beginning of the week.

Most assignments should be completed in class so little homework should happen if students keeps up with assignments during class meets. If students do not complete the expected in-class assignments, then they will need to be completed outside of class time.  At most 10-15 minutes of work may need to be completed outside of class. The goal is to complete it during class time.

Log into Aeries and Canvas to make sure assignments have been done. Grades are updated in Aeries by Monday's class for work turned in by the prior Friday.
