We Need Your Help!

PTO Opportunities

The WJHS PTO plays a vital role in our school by funding various events and programs that enrich the lives of our students. Through the generous support of our parent and Westmont community, we have been able to organize events such as the much-anticipated 8th Grade Dance, the student skate, and parent events that foster a sense of camaraderie and togetherness. These events create lasting memories for our students, forging friendships and strengthening their connection to our school.

Additionally, the PTO's contributions extend beyond social events. We support extracurricular programs and curriculum, ensuring our students have access to diverse opportunities that promote their holistic growth. We also undertake school beautification projects, creating a welcoming environment that inspires and motivates our middle schoolers.  And when teachers and staff require assistance, the PTO is there to lend a helping hand.

However, to sustain these vital services and continue to make a positive impact on our students' education, we must emphasize the need for increased parent involvement. It is through your active participation that we can successfully carry out the PTO's mission and provide the best possible opportunities for our students. By volunteering your time and skills, you become an essential part of the collective effort to enhance our children's educational journey.

There are numerous ways you can contribute to the PTO, depending on your availability and interests. We welcome volunteers for event planning and coordination, fundraising activities, committee participation, and general support. No contribution is too small, as even a few hours of your time can make a significant difference. Whether you have a particular skill set or simply a willingness to help, we invite you to join us and share your passion for creating an exceptional educational experience for our students.

We encourage you to attend the meetings and learn more about how you can get involved. These meetings provide an opportunity to connect with other parents, stay informed about upcoming events and initiatives, and actively contribute to the decisions that shape our school community.

2023-2024 Committees

Fundraising Help organize and coordinate various fundraisers throughout the year.  The PTO typically hosts one major fundraiser per year such as an adults-only event such as a trivia/game night, chili cook-off, or casino night or Raise Craze, which is fundraising through student led acts of kindness.  We also participate in other passive fundraising opportunities such as restaurant nights or selling popcorn/products online with minimal volunteering required.

Eighth Grade Dance – 8th grade parents begin in January to plan and work on the 8th grade graduation celebration, hosting a large-scale formal celebration in May of each year (paired down version of prom).

Ice Cream Social – Parents of 7th or 8th graders organize and help distribute ice cream for the PTO-sponsored 6th Grade Ice Cream Social in August.

Student Activities – Parents help organize and chaperone student activities, including student skate, movie nights, bowling and other activities throughout the school year.

Staff Appreciation- Organize events to honor WJH staff throughout the year and during Teacher Appreciation Week (first full week in May).
