Thomas Jefferson High School will host LEARN to SWIM for several sessions each year. We will post the dates for the Fall, Spring, and early Summer sessions here. Please read below to learn more about the program and the registration process.
We are excited to offer swim lessons at Thomas Jefferson High School. Our program will be providing Learn to Swim classes as an authorized provider of the American Red Cross. The curriculum of the courses is a nationally recognized program that helps your child progress through the different levels to become a proficient swimmer. The upper level courses can refine swimming strokes to lead to competitive swimming.

The Fall 2025 session is set to begin September 22 (Monday evenings) or September 23 (Tuesday evenings). We will meet for 1 day each week for 6 weeks (The times we have available are starting at 4:45 pm, 5:30 pm, 6:15 pm. The classes will last for 35 minutes each. Some of the sessions will have different levels available. All of the sessions will offer levels 1-3
All registrations are done through the Ludus website. The registration portal will open on TBA Slots are extremely limited so please register as soon as possible. The cost of the lessons are $85 and all payments are done through a credit card system (an additional Ludus fee will be added to all sales). Ludus will provide a secure way to purchase your lessons with a credit card. Prior to completing your registration you will be required to complete a form that will allow you to provide relevant demographic and medical information as well as have you accept the protocols for the lessons. PLEASE BE SURE TO LIST THE NAME OF EACH CHILD BEING REGISTERED ON THE FORM. If you have multiple children, please be aware of matching the name with the appropriate level. This will help tremendously with class organization.
There are no refunds for this program once registered. If you have an extenuating situation you can contact the program director prior to the start of the first session, Registration will be monitored and adjustments may be made to balance the sessions and classes. It is very important that you do your best to match your child's ability with the courses that we offer. The following is a list of the courses that are available this session. Please carefully read the prerequisites and select the course that best meets the needs of your child. If your child participated in our program before, please select the course that they were recommended to take in this session. If the met all of the skills of the previous class they should advance. If they need additional practice with some of the skills, please sign them up for the same level as they were in during the last session.
NOTE: Due to the mobility between groups 1 & 2 we will have a general signup for these levels. PLEASE be sure to indicate on the form, what level your kid is signing up for. The same will be true for levels 4 & 5.
Please review the descriptions of each level of LEARN TO SWIM level and select the course that is most appropriate for your child. The Learn to Swim Program at Thomas Jefferson follows the curriculum of the American Red Cross which is a progressive levels swim program.
The minimum age for the level #1 course is 4 years old and the swimmer must leave the parents and work with the instructors. Parents will be able to watch the lessons from the balcony viewing area. If your child is not feeling well the day of a lesson, please do not bring them to swim lessons for that day.
