Dear Families,

    I hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready for a fantastic school year! My name is Alysha Cannon and I am so excited to be your child’s first grade teacher. This is my third year teaching in West Islip Schools.  I have taught second grade at a school in NYC for five years before coming to PJB. I attended Paul J. Bellew when I was a child and I love being back in West Islip School District!

A little about myself:  In the summer, I love spending time at the beach, going on bike rides and rollerblading. I am the Assistant Director of the camp on Fire Island and love spending my summers there!  In the winter, I love to go snowboarding. My favorite subject is math and I love reading new books. I also really enjoy cooking and traveling! 

What I love most about teaching is the relationships I create with my students.  My goal is to help each and every one of my students reach their highest potential within a learning environment that is engaging and supportive.
