Welcome Letter

Dear New Fourth Grader,

Welcome to an exciting year in fourth grade! I am thrilled to be your teacher here at Paul J. Bellew. There will be many fun-filled learning experiences ahead. Here is some basic information that I think you will find helpful for the upcoming school year.

As a fourth grade student, there are endless learning opportunities. This year we will be science investigators and will be conducting many experiments- what a blast! In social studies, we will travel back in time to learn about New York’s Native Americans, Colonial life, and the American Revolution. Oh, what a journey! In math, we will learn about decimals, fractions, mixed numbers, long division and multiplication, just to name a few. We will read different types of literature (genre), as well as sharpen our skills as writers using various strategies. Buckle up because it’s going to be an adventurous year!

To help prepare you for a smooth transition back to school, I recommend that you continue to read each day. This will help strengthen your reading stamina. I’d also like you to log onto Reflex Math daily, a week or two before school begins to refresh your math facts fluency.

I have attached our classroom supply list. Please be sure to put your name on all your supply items with your black Sharpie. Also, at the bottom of this page you will find a link for an “Info. & Interests” questionnaire. Please have your parents fill it out and bring it to school with you.

I hope that your summer has been a relaxing, fun time with family and friends. I am extremely excited about the upcoming school year and look forward to meeting you very soon!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Vita
