Textbook: Each student was given a book. It is theirs to keep for the year and to write in. If an additional paper is needed for the work, please remind them to bring it in the next day. All work should be done on lined paper and neatly numbered. They do have their math notebook they can do their work in also.
If for any reason your child does not have their book at home and they need it, it is available online through Classlink by clicking on the eMath icon. Then they will go to the unit we are working in and the lesson. Lessons usually follow along in the order in which the text has them.
The top of each page in the book has a QR code. Students can scan it with their phone camera and it will open a video of the day’s lesson. This video may also be accessed through the eMath icon in classlink under the Unit and Lesson by clicking the video link. If a class is missed, for illness or a lesson or a doctor’s appointment, etc. it is expected they will watch the video to catch up. Obviously, please wait until they are feeling better before attempting this. We have gone over this several times.
Homework: Homework will not be graded and each problem should be attempted. We have already gone over what an attempt means. Students should look back at the day’s lesson for reference and highlight important words. From there, they should attempt to do something. If they are at a total loss, it is expected they will be at extra help on Monday or Wednesday to review the concept as test/quiz questions come straight from the homework.
Homework will be given on Monday - Thursday evenings. It is EXTREMELY RARE for a Friday assignment and usually occurs only if we need the day to complete a unit before a long break.
What if….
I’m Absent? (doctor, lesson, sick, etc)
Please check the Google Classroom and the website to see what you have
missed for the day, ask a friend, eand mail me if you have done those 2 things and
are still unsure. Return to school with a note.
You know you will be out?
Please let me know ahead of time. While we do not give work if you are going on a vacation, I can try to give you an idea of where we will be.
You don’t understand something?
Please let me know ASAP by email or commenting in the classroom. Get extra help as soon as possible. Please make an effort to show whatever you do understand so I can see where your confusion is.
Extra Help: Monday and Wednesday 7:25 am. Come with your attempt and your questions.
