Dear Parents and Future Second Graders,
Welcome to Second Grade!! My name is Mrs. Murphy and I will be your teacher this year. I am looking forward to meeting all of you on September 2nd. We are going to have so much fun this year. We will be learning together in room 202.
On the first day of school, I would like all my second graders to bring in a picture (4x6-of one you wouldn't want back) of their families and one of themselves. We are going to have a sharing time to get to know one another. I would like them to tell me who is in your family and something special you do as a family. I will bring in a picture of my family. I can’t wait to tell you about my husband, my three beautiful girls and my dog Rory. Don’t forget your pets! They are part of your family too!!
Second Grade is an exciting year, both academically and socially. Organization and responsibility are important components of a successful student. Listed below are the supplies that you will need for a successful year in Second Grade. Please label supplies before bringing them to school. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
1 Large backpack (no wheeled bags-they don’t fit in cubbies) The backpack should be large enough to easily accommodate the lunchbox, snack bag, math workbook and folder that your child will bring home everyday. Please make sure these items fit into your child's backpack. Please write your child’s name on the inside of the backpack. It is not recommended that the backpacks have clips or multiple pockets.
3- Sturdy plastic folders (plastic blue, green and yellow) with 2 bottom pockets for transporting papers and notes. (Side pockets make it difficult for children to insert papers.). ***(Please label each folder.)***
3- boxes of 24 count Crayola crayons. ***(Please label each crayon-initials are fine.)***
12 pack of colored pencils.
