Learning Goals

Throughout the course of this year, students will embark on a mathematical journey that will help them to better understand not only what mathematics is all about but also how the world works. In doing so, the tools you will use to uncover the mysteries will include collaboration with others, technology, and even reading strategies to help you work through word problems. Along the way, your experiences will additionally lead you to knowledge of yourself as a learner and study skills that will enable you to be a stronger student in your school career.

In other words...

The students will:

-perceive mathematics as a tool for making sense of their world.

-become fluent in the language of algebra in order to more simply problem-solve.

-collaborate with one another to reflect on, build on, and refine emerging understandings.

-implement strategies for making meaning of mathematical, as opposed to literary, text.

-set and work towards their own personal goals for mathematical growth.
