Welcome!

Thanks for visiting my website!  My name is Ms. Longo, and I am a Literacy Specialist at Beach Street Middle School.  I provide Reading instruction to students in grades 6-8 across all tier levels, from push-in support to small group instruction.

This is my 21st year teaching in the West Islip School District, and I am passionate about helping students build confidence, strengthen their literacy skills, and discover their potential as readers and learners.  As a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner, I have specialized training in structured literacy and evidence-based approaches to reading instruction, particularly for students who experience challenges with language-based reading difficulties.

I believe that every student can grow when given the right tools, support, and encouragement.  My goal is to create a positive learning environment where students feel successful, empowered, and motivated to become lifelong learners.  

Outside the classroom, I am a travel enthusiast, enjoy practicing yoga and Pilates, and direct theatrical performances at West Islip High School.
