Dear Students and Parents,
Hello, and welcome to fifth grade! We are so excited to be working with you this year. Fifth grade will be an exciting and eventful year for you! Being the oldest in the school comes with a lot of responsibilities and rewards.
We will start the year by getting to know each other and becoming comfortable with our school and classroom procedures. We will also learn many interesting things together. In language arts, we will be busy reading and writing. In social studies, we will learn about early civilizations, Native Americans, government, civics, and geography. You will travel to Mr. Osburn one period a day for science, and to Mrs. Cosentino one period a day to learn math. Please remember to review your multiplication facts before school starts. It will make fifth grade math so much easier!
Please bring a book with you to class that you are currently reading. Throughout the year, you will need to keep a book at your desk for silent reading time. We will also have snack time each day, so please bring a small snack and a water bottle.
We have attached a copy of our supply list to help you avoid the back to school madness. Please be sure to get a 1½ inch binder and fill it with one package of reinforced loose-leaf paper, All supplies need to be labeled with your name. Please be sure your supply box is the size of a regular shoe box, as space in the classroom is limited. You will also need a pencil pouch that will travel with you as we switch classes.
More specific information about classroom procedures and our class schedule will be available when school begins. If any questions arise, please email us at c.kruer@wi.k12.ny.us. or t.bauerfeind@wi.k12.ny.us. We look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kruer & Mr. B
**Please note we are in a new classroom this year - room 300,
