You will be the model for fluent reading. This will help your child hear what fluent reading sounds like.
You read a sentence out loud with expression and at an appropriate rate. Then you child repeats the same sentence the way you read it with same the rate and expression.
You and your child read out loud at the same time.
A great way to practice fluency is to reread a story several times. Your child will become familiar with the story, will spend less time decoding and can focus on expression and rate.
