Rules, Policies and Procedures

Grading Policy and Progress Reports

All at home practice will be assigned during class and due the following school day, unless otherwise stated.  Homework assignments and in class practice will be graded based on a three-point rubric.  Any late assignments can be made up during the marking period, with penalty.   While completeness and correctness are both important, at home practice will be determined primarily by the appropriate effort and strategies put in to the work.

Progress will be discussed with your Math Teacher as well as your parents/guardians.  All assignments and reporting will be finalized on infinite campus.

If you are struggling, be sure to conference with your teacher, before it is too late!

Attendance and Lateness

When the bell rings, all students are to be in their assigned seats and ready to learn.  Daily procedures are to include: discussion and assessment of homework, take down notes and classroom dialogue into notebook, completion of in class practice, with expectations to attempt extension activity.   If students are absent, it is their responsibility to make up any in-class assignments, hand in homework and copy notes.  Students and parents are expected to check Google Classroom and Infinite Campus website for announcements, assignments and/or postings.

Behavior

It is important that all students utilize class time for learning, asking questions, being critical thinkers, and making connections to the daily math lessons.

Please know that the West Islip Code of Conduct can be found on the district website, or by using the clickable link above.

Cell phones are not to be used during class time, as it serves as a distraction to all students and their learning.
