This course will give students a sneak peak to the Italian language and culture. It runs on a blue/gold day schedule for one quarter only. There are no formal assessments or numeric grades in this course. Students will be able to identify basic vocabulary: greetings, expressions of courtesy, basic conversation and gestures, the Italian alphabet, numbers, colors, adjectives, festivals/holidays in Italy, weather, geography, regions and tourist attractions. Students will conclude the course with a personal culture research project on a region of Italy- completed on Google slides. Students will receive a quarter grade of Excellent, Very good, Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory. Students will be asked to select a language to study for the rest of their academic career starting in seventh grade where it will be a regular everyday course in the student schedule. Letters or google form emails will be sent out around March or April. Students should submit their selection as soon as possible if they would like to get their first choice. The language that they get placed into in seventh grade will be the language they will stay with through high school and beyond.
