Welcome! Here is a little bit of what to expect from the ACE class, sponsored through Stony Brook University.
Welcome to this college level course that will meet ½ of your NY State English requirement. We have so much to read and explore together and the semester will seem to fly by! This course is meant for those who really do enjoy reading, will do so on their own and in class, and further actively engage in class discussions regarding teacher assignments and their original viewpoints. At times, you will produce your own, original writing which might be lighter and creative in nature. Other times you will be finding yourself articulating a critical response to topics of patriarchal systems or imploring your reader to see the side of resentment politics extracted from the voice of an author you had just read. Either way, you need to be present, prepared, and invested to both succeed and enjoy the journey.

About the Accelerated College Education (ACE) Program
The ACE program helps high school students develop the skills necessary for a successful college career, familiarizes them with the demands of university coursework, and introduces them to the learning environment and resources of a major university before they enter college full time. Students enroll in Stony Brook University courses taught in their high school. Stony Brook tuition and fees are waived; students pay only a non-refundable $300 ACE Program Fee for each course. Upon successful completion of ACE course requirements, students will receive credit from Stony Brook University for the course(s) in which they have enrolled and for which they have paid.
