We do not "yet" have the ability to print directly to chocolate. The students in the Computer Aided Design (CAD) class designed their chocolate pieces in Autodesk Inventor and then sliced the 3D models using Prusa Slicer to prepare them to print on Prusa MK4 printers to be vacuum formed.
Multiple student samples were placed on the vacuum former to test how well they would form.
Take a look at that plastic melting! Ready to form!
The plastic is pulled over the 3D printed parts and the vacuum pulls the sheet tight to form around the pieces.
Following a strict food safety protocols the chocolate was tenderly deposited in the molds and placed in a refrigerator to cool
Milk chocolate and dark chocolate West Islip themed candies were then placed in plastic bags to be distributed and enjoyed.
