If we need to unexpectedly go virtual, information will be given here.
In the unlikely event that the West Islip Union Free School District must pivot to remote instruction (ex. snow amounts require the District to utilize more than the two snow days built into the 2025-2026 calendar), the district’s Emergency Remote Instruction Plan will be followed.
EMERGENCY REMOTE INSTRUCTION EXPECTATIONS for Student Grades 6-12 (Provided by District)
All students will:
-Sign into each class period on time
-have their face visible on camera
-be dressed appropriately for school
-be seated at a desk, table or counter
-remain engaged throughout the duration of the class period
-utilize their 1:1 devices appropriately and respectfully
-complete the learning activity provided by the teacher
*Attendance will be taken via Infinite Campus. If a student is late, they will be marked late. If a student is absent, they will be marked absent.
With technology, there is always a chance that a student or teacher cannot get into a Google Meet. Therefore, all teachers will create an “emergency” virtual snow day tab in their Google Classroom … where students who cannot get into a meet know to go for the class activity.
