ILMEA is a non-profit association, representing every level of music education, in every discipline, including yours! We are dedicated to the advancement of your profession and to you as an individual music educator.
Membership in ILMEA provides for dual membership in NAfME. There are many positive features to Membership, all offering a special benefit for your growth and professionalism. Our WIMEA E-Board has one goal each year; keep the organization running and thriving! We are always open to new suggestions and improvements. Our E-Board is excited to meet new students and their ideas. If you have any questions about membership please contact anyone in E-Board.
President
Alysa is a flutist from Macomb, IL. When not working as your local sandwich artist, she is playing piccolo for the WIU Concert Band. In addition to this, she is involved with the School of Music Ambassadors Program and is the Co-President of the acapella group, Invoxicated.
Vice President
Sydney is a flutist from Springfield, IL. Aside from WIMEA, she is a student worker for the Music Library and a barista at Starbucks. She is also involved with the WIU Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Mu Phi Epsilon, Phi Kappa Phi, and the School of Music Ambassadors Program.
Secretary
Parker is a vocalist from Lincoln, IL. In their free time, they play piano and participate in community theatre. They are also a member of Mu Phi Epsilon!
Treasurer
Dante is a bass trombonist from Virginia (previously Peoria, IL). When not occupied as a Resident Assistant, School of Music Ambassador, or Admissions Ambassador; you can find him making coffee or on Hanson Field conducting the Marching Leathernecks.
Public Relations
Jacob is a saxophonist from Peoria, IL. When not spending hours designing the next best flyer, he is serving as the current President of the Phi Mu Alpha Fraternity. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and being outdoors.
Faculty Advisor
Dr. Cangro is currently the Music Education Coordinator and Director of the Community Music School. He is known for his wide range of talent, both as a conductor and a trumpet player. Dr. Cangro has been a clinician for professional development seminars in over eight different countries.
Member Information
Membership Dues:
Members are expected to pay their dues every Fall. WIMEA dues are $25.00 and need to be paid to participate in events like IMEC.
Listed below is the link to ILMEA's website where you can renew your dues. Please select the "Collegiate Member" option. Once you have completed the payment screen you need to notify the Vice President so they may update your status with the chapter.
**If you do not notify the Vice President of your payment our chapter cannot include you in our IMEC attendance list. We can also not verify you at IMEC's registration if you do not pay your dues and you will be required to pay the $90.00 registration fee at the door for entry.**
