On this website we are sharing a curriculum for teaching the fundamentals of logic to middle school students. It is under construction.
This website is created by Jesus Aguirre, Alejandro (Alex) Rangel, and Dr. James (Jim) Olsen of Western Illinois University, as part of the undergraduate research project Jesus and Alex did under the direction of Dr. Olsen.
Jesus Aguirre is majoring in Middle Level Education major at WIU with a minor in middle level mathematics teaching. He plans to teach at the middle school level. He graduated from Moline High School in Moline, IL.
Alex Rangel is also a Middle Level Education major at WIU with a minor in middle level mathematics teaching. He plans to teach at the middle school level. He graduated from Rock Island High School in Rock Island, IL.
Jim Olsen, Ph.D. is a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Philosophy at WIU. He taught in the public schools for 10 years before coming to WIU. More information.
The purpose for this curriculum is to teach middle school students fundamentals of Logic. We as teachers want to make this curriculum in a manner that middle school students can understand. We hope to make this curriculum easy for teachers to implement in their own classrooms.
