I am the Curriculum and Teaching Unit Head at the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Development at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. I hold a PhD in Education Studies and a Masters in Computer-based education (cum laude). I have experience as a Programme Specialist in the area of Learning design and have led a number of projects involving curriculum and materials development, monitoring and evaluation and research. I am passionate about social justice issues and take a keen interest in critical pedagogies, the use of technologies for learning and teaching and generally learning from and connecting with others in the field. I am a postdoctoral researcher at the African Centre for Migration and Society (ACMS), University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. I also have associations with the Division of Migration, Ethnicity and Society (REMESO), Linköping University in Norrköping, Sweden (as a researcher and Master's research supervisor) and Universität Tübingen, Germany (as a trainee teacher). Overall, for the past more than 10 years I have been involved in Higher Education teaching activities, including: tutoring, teaching assistance, research and practice supervision, researcher, designing a course manual, and designing, teaching and assessing a course. My research interest is broadly on issues related to sustainable development, with a focus on topics such as higher education and migration.
I identify as an Indian woman born and raised in South Africa. I have a Post-Graduate Diploma in Higher Education and currently completing my Masters in Education in ICT. I am an Educational Developer at CLTD with over 23 years of experience in South African Higher Education, private and public, ranging from lecturing to academic development, academic operations, management and instructional design. I am passionate about using technology to reimagine higher education.
