Safety
Prior to any construction or experimentation, you must have teacher and parent/guardian approval.
Always use common sense-Safety First
Never use or mix any chemicals or hazardous materials, including biohazards or any materials that are, or could become dangerous
Always wear goggles/glasses with activities that could harm your eyes
Avoid using sharp or potentially dangerous objects including:
Knives of any size, razors or box cutters
Mace or pepper spray
Electric stun guns, martial arts weapons or devices
Guns, replica guns, ammunition, or fireworks
Do not use an open flame to conduct experiments
Inventions may not use lighters, matches, candles, or any other open flame or heat source or any material or liquid considered combustible
Avoid using AC current electricity
If electricity or heat is needed, adult approval and supervision is required
Do not use live animals (studies involving observation of behavior is acceptable as long as it does not cause any physical or mental harm to the animal)
Invention Requirements
Originality--It is very important that your solution is original and does not already exist or is substantially different from any other invention.
Prototype should be no more than 2 feet high and 2 feet wide and be able to be set on a table top.
The invention does not have to be a working model, but you need to be able to explain how it would work. If it can be operational, it should be.
If your invention cannot be demonstrated due to size, electricity, or hazardous materials, a video of the invention can be shown.
Display
Display board must be no larger than 24” wide with wings folded in.
No balloons, glitter or confetti are allowed in any form.
Plug in electricity will not be available. Batteries or power packs are fine.
Project display should be free of objects easily broken.
Do not display items that require tasting, touching or inhaling.
