James Miller is a professional working artist and educator who received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art at the University of Texas at Brownsville. He has won numerous awards in the district, including two campus Teacher of the Year awards and was a 2021 visual arts grant recipient of the Texas Art Education Association.
He was recently selected as the 2025-2027 TAEA Region 1 Representative ( Brownsville ISD-Laredo ISD ) and serves as the NAEA Crayola Ambassador. He is the sponsor to the National Art Honor Society, The Chess Club, and the Cinema Club.
Mr. Miller has served as a board member to the Weslaco Museum, Congressional Art Competition Committee Member for TX 34.
He is actively exhibiting his students’ works within the community and has his own professional art shows annually in the state. He has 26 years of experience teaching art in public schools and 4 additional years of teaching art with Continuing Education Department at The University of Texas at Brownsville.
