Class Expectations

Welcome to 8th grade at Dr. Cuellar Middle School! This is my sixteenth year at Dr. Cuellar Middle School, and I know that by working together we can make this year successful for everyone.

United States History is a one-year course covering the events between 1400 and 1890. We will study the cultural, social, economic and political events that have forged this country. Along the way, we will use important methods like problem solving, writing, analyzing, debating, and creating important group and individual projects. In also keeping in line with our district’s goals, I look forward to helping students explore our history through the use of class and technology resources.

Interactive Student Notebook (ISN) Check

The ISN is an essential piece to my class for student learning. Near the end of each six weeks, I will grade notebooks looking for completion on assignments, organization, and verify that all notes have been taken to help ensure student success. The ISN may be kept in student backpacks or may be left in the classroom on the assigned shelf, BUT it is the best tool along with Google Classroom to prepare for assessments and the STAAR test. Please take care of it!! My past students have mentioned that it comes in handy at the high school level as well!
