In 2023-24 school year, we continue a new modified choice art curriculum.

Welcome everyone to a new year and semester of art!

The former Full Choice Based Art curriculum is available to advanced students. Students who meet the CBA Rubric Guidelines may engage in modified to full choice activities. A teacher/student meeting (most likely outside of class time) will be needed to discuss this possibility. 

There will be some choice of daily activities and time and effort you wish to spend on a particular media (art type) unit. If, for example, you prefer clay to painting, you can extend your study in the art type you like and do only the basic expectations in another. You may propose a modification of project prompts and guidelines to make the project of more interest to you. There are flexible due dates for projects. You will balance several projects throughout the semester documenting your process (taking pictures) and turning it into your art google folders daily at best and weekly at a minimum. Meeting the new state of Maine art standards through the process of art making is more important than finished works of art. We will, however polish some pieces for the purpose of meeting some standards and exhibit.

We will continue taking precautions to keep everyone safe by washing our hands upon entry, sanitizing our borrowed art supplies, tools and equipment with provided hand sanitizer spray, traveling with an optional kit of common use art supplies, and maintaining reasonable distance from one another whenever possible. Covid Safety rules may fluctuate depending on our school policy and mandates as we move through our class time together.

Artland is open to you during some achievement periods. 

After a break during our pandemic years, Art Club may resume meeting, depending on student interest. Stay tuned for more information and see the Art Club section below for info on our first possible meeting.
