IIn this course we explore how identity influences academic motivation and career choices across the lifespan. We discuss how identity and related constructs (e.g., stereotypes) influence the choices students make throughout their education, from a developmental perspective. We also examine methods of increasing equity in academic fields and careers. At the end of the course, students will have an understanding of what identity and academic motivation is, what influences adolescents’ course and career decision making, and ways to create more equity in academics and careers.
Course is for graduate students and upper-level undergraduates.
