Livestock

This scholarship is given out in memory of long-time livestock committee member Jim Geraets. Jim was very passionate about the livestock project, and no matter the species, he was a huge advocate for helping youth get started in the project. Jim was always there to help answer any questions & give them the extra confidence they needed to succeed. He made an impact on many lives. We are very fortunate to be able to help carry on his legacy through this scholarship. 

The Jim Geraets Memorial Scholarship is offered to first & second-year participants enrolled in a livestock project: beef, goat, sheep & swine projects. We will award up to three $100 scholarships to help youth get started in their project area.

Applications can also be downloaded on our website (listed below), or you may email us for a copy.  Please be sure to read all application requirements. Completed applications can be scanned & sent via email to: piercecountylivestockcommittee@gmail.com  or dropped off at the Extension Office no later than 4 pm on December 4, 2026.

→Beef weigh-in:   December 6, 2026   (Snow date: Dec 13, 2026), 11 am -2 pm in the scalehouse at the Pierce County Fairgrounds. 

→Ag Days: January 2, 2027, January 23, 2027 & February 6, 2027, 8:45 a.m.- 2:30 pm at the Ellsworth High School.
