The course will provide information regarding how to get started when applying for internships.
Meet with a Career and Internship Advisor
Career and Internship advisors can provide support while on your search for an internship and can help improve your resume
Write or update your resume and cover letters and gather letters of recommendation
As you progress throughout your time at UW-Madison make sure you are updating your resume! In addition, be sure to adjust cover letters so that they are specific to the place you are applying to
Prepare for interviews
SuccessWorks offers an Interviewing Tips and Tools Canvas Course as well as mock interviews with advisors who can provide further advice

Apply for many internships
Apply early and frequently to internships that match your career goals. The more internships you apply to, the better chance you will have to secure an internship that you are passionate about.
Attend and use campus resources available to you
UW-Madison offers many resources to help you succeed in your search for an internship. Take advantage of tools like SuccessWorks and attend Internship and Career Fairs that are put on by the school
If you do secure an interview, be sure to follow up
Sending a thank you and reiterating your interest for a position helps show the employer that you are still interested in the position and may help you stand out from other candidates

There are many online applications that will organize internship opportunities for you based on your skills and interests. Browse websites such as Handshake, LinkedIn, and Indeed for local and out of state opportunities
