Originally from Bhopal, India, my path to higher education was greatly influenced by my early experiences that taught me resilience and adaptability. These qualities were a result of my mother's dedication to ensuring I had a well-rounded educational environment. Being raised by young, working parents helped me deeply value hard work and the intangible aspects of life. My academic journey began in a local school in India and later expanded to studying psychology and computer science in the United States. This educational experience was enriched by my mother's comprehensive approach to learning and further broadened by my younger brother's experience with ADHD, which enhanced my awareness of the varied educational needs of individuals.
Driven by a commitment to educational equity, I chose to pursue a Masters in Education Technology and Applied Learning Sciences. My aim is to explore the complexities of the human psyche to enhance the educational experience for diverse learners. My dedication to this cause is reflected in my mentorship with Women-ACM chapter at UW-Madison, my Social Justice internship with EOTO LLC., and my collaborations with UpEducators in India, providing free Google Skill Training to NGO educators. As a Peer Software Trainer at UW-Madison, I trained over 150 students from various backgrounds, contributing to the diversification of the tech field.
Presently, at CMU I am working on projects related to promoting motivation and engagement for students learning a second language such as ASL or Spanish. As part of my capstone project I am also working for Turn The Bus, a non-profit initiative in India to build an Entrepreneurship game that can instill the entrepreneurial mindset in the youth of India and teach them business basics. My personal and professional journey has fueled my passion for developing innovative educational technologies that not only advance cognitive development and learning outcomes but also promote equity and inclusivity across varied socio-cultural contexts.
