This workshop is open to individuals (researchers, practitioners, designers, etc.) who are working on implementing digital games in classrooms or interested in doing so. While the organizers will provide examples and present/discuss a process of collaborating with educators from a researcher/designer perspective, practitioners are welcome as well to provide insights from the other viewpoint. To better facilitate participation in the virtual setting, we anticipate up to 25 participants/attendees with at least four participant presentations.
Each group of presenters will have the opportunity to give a brief (up to 10 minutes) presentation followed by another 20 minutes of feedback from attendees and organizers in Roundtable format. (Time breakdown subject to change.)
We invite participants to submit abstracts of no more than 250 words for these roundtable presentations. Please include in the abstract:
your role/perspective (e.g., learning analytics researcher, ed tech designer, practitioner)
a brief description of the classroom context (e.g., grade level, content area, class time/use of the digital game)
a brief description of the game or type of game in your work
the learning outcome or skills you are currently measuring (or hoping to measure) with your game
anticipated (or experienced) challenges and/or insights in relation to making the game and game data useful and meaningful for classroom use
What you would like to get out of the workshop
a link and/or screenshot of your game
